I got to the LA County Arboretum in the morning for my last day as their artist-in-residence. It was already over 90 degrees and climbing. Just outside of the lovely air conditioned library where I would be working, I found a stunning display of Red Hot Poker (kniphofia‬) in full bloom. Their spikes were rising high into the desert sun. I was taken by a small wasp resting on the torch-like flowers. It was my husband who named this artwork for both the wasp and the vibrational quality of the image.
